Kristy Mohammed-Austin is the President & CEO of the Nonprofit Staffing Solution. She is an immigrant from the Caribbean of Trinidad & Tobago who came to New York City as a little girl with a big dream. As one of the few African American Caribbean women-owned staffing agencies, Kristy can personally relate to the workforce challenges that many job seekers and employees face regarding diversity, inclusion, equality, and belonging. Kristy quickly realized the importance of opening a staffing service that represents and services every community with professionalism and respect.
With over 20 years of business development and recruiting experience, Kristy has extensive knowledge of the staffing industry. She has the skills to not only listen well, but also has the ability to recognize a person’s strengths and weaknesses by matching resumes to specific job descriptions. This experience, along with a clear understanding of her community's needs, supports the Nonprofit Staffing Solution’s mission and goals. Kristy is responsible for providing professional recruiting services within the nonprofit sector, assisting clients with current salary trends, job description review, sourcing, screening, and finding the right candidate for their organization. In addition to assisting candidates with interview preparation, resume review, and job assistance.
Kristy is an ASA Certified Staffing Professional from The American Staffing Association, currently in the process of applying for certification for the Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) in hopes of building stronger connections and government contracts. Kristy was also among the top finalists for the Black Connect FeverPitch 2022 grant competition.
Retno joined the Nonprofit Staffing Solution with a very impressive development, fundraising, and special events background. Having over ten years of experience in the nonprofit and fundraising field and almost four years of experience in the nonprofit staffing industry. With Retno’s nonprofit background and staffing experience, she is able to provide excellent business development and recruiting services to the nonprofit sector successfully.
Retno supports existing and new client accounts by managing, growing, and renewing accounts within the nonprofit sector.
In addition, Retno is a GIA Graduate Gemologist and creates breathtaking jewelry. Her designs have been featured in magazines and trade journals, including Brides, Marie Claire, JCK, and National Jeweler. Retno hails from Indonesia and is a compelling communicator who possesses excellent interpersonal skills and marketing experience. She graduated with a BA in Speech Communication from Ithaca College. Retno is an innovative and creative addition to the Nonprofit Staffing Solution’s team.
